Last year sure had its challenges. We found ourselves staying at home more, adapting to learning online, adapting to visiting with loved ones online, making more purchases online, attending church online and avoiding as much human contact as we could stand. I am typically an introvert. I enjoy my times of isolation and quiet as I sit here right now with only the sound of the dishwasher running. However, I found that I need human interaction more than I realized.
I teach at a local junior high and I truly learned the importance of brick and mortar schools. Our children need to interact with other children to help them grow socially. They need to interact with their teachers to help them grow intellectually.
Did our lives change much on the farm itself? No, not really. We still had to care for the animals. We still had to plant and harvest the crops. We still had to bale hay and put up hay and straw for the winter. There are times that being together so much brought frustration and arguments and other times it brought us closer together. We are learning to adapt in this crazy world we live in just like you are.
Although 2020 was challenging, I find that every year is challenging. The challenges just change from year to year. Honestly, the challenges are what make life interesting, strengthens our faith, reminds us that anything is possible, and encourages us as we find that we are stronger than we even imagined.
So, I say, 2021, bring it! We are ready! We are strong and courageous. As the Lord says in Joshua 1:9: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” We are capable of anything. As Philippians 4:13 says: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” This brings us peace. As Philippians 4:7 says: And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Our prayer for you in 2021 is courage, strength, faith, and peace! May God bless you and yours.
